Shabana Azmi in ICU: Maharashtra minister, Bollywood stars visit hospital

<p>Many members of the Bollywood fraternity were seen visiting Shabana Azmi, a day after she suffered injuries in a road accident. The veteran actor was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. Her husband Javed Akhtar, was quoted in reports as saying that although she's in the ICU, the scan reports are positive. Other family members like Farhan and Zoya Akhtar were also seen at the hospital. Maharashtra minister Chhagan Bhujbal also checked in on the actress. Other Bollywood personalities like Farah Khan, Tabu, Vicky Kaushal and Ashutosh Gowariker were seen at the hospital.</p>

<p>Veteran Bollywood actor Shabana Azmi was rushed to the hospital after her car rammed into a truck on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Saturday evening. Shabana was heading towards Mumbai when her Safari crashed into a truck from her rear as both the vehicles were moving towards Mumbai. The accident took place 2 kilometres before Khalapur toll booth around 4 pm, according to Maharashtra traffic police headquarters officials. As per Khalapur police, she has sustained minor injuries on her face including neck and chin and near the eye, as she was sitting next to the driver. Shabana's husband and lyricist Javed Akhtar, who was travelling behind her in a separate car, an Audi, was safe and his car was not involved in the crash, said police.</p>

Tanhaji Malusare (Ajay) a trusted Subedar of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (Sharad Kelkar) is determined to reclaim the Kondhana Fort (now called Sinhagad) which Shivaji had to cede to the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb (Luke Kenny) under the treaty of Purandhar. How he captures the impregnable fort being guarded by Rajput commander Udaybhan (Saif) and where the fierce battle leads to forms the basic premise of the story. Tanhaji is magnanimous, high on visual impact, has powerful action backed by rock solid performances. You come out of the theatre calling it a paisa vasool film.</p>

Chhapaak | No Rating Movie Review | Deepika Padukone | Vikrant Massey | Meghna Gulzar

<p>Chhapaak is based on a real life incident of acid attack violence and a survivor's (Laxmi Aggarwal) story. Starring Deepika Padukone as the protagonist, the film leaves an impact though it lacks the shock value that one would expect from watching a film about such a heinous hate crime. Director Meghna Gulzar once again treats her story with maturity and doesn't get carried away. She understands the nuances of the subject and instead of evoking sympathy, she sends out a stronger message of standing tall and celebrating life even after you've faced adversity at its worst. Chhapaak narrates the story of 19-year-old Malti (Padukone) who, as a happy teenager, aspired to be a singer, but 'chhapaak' of acid changes the course of her life. Her life, now, revolves around working for an NGO for acid attack victims, battling her court case and getting corrective surgeries at the hospital. For those creating a ruckus over how the makers have changed the religion of the attacker in the film, that's not true. The man is named Bashir Khan aka Babbu and Rajesh turns out to be Malti's boyfriend. Chhapaak is a story that makes you sob and smile at the same time. It's a sensitive, brave and gut-wrenching story that's not easy to watch, but definitely worth telling.</p>
