Sushant Singh Rajput’s death: Centre accepts Bihar govt’s request for CBI probe

<p>The government has accepted Bihar government's request of CBI probe into actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death, Centre's senior second-most law officer Tushar Mehta stated it before the Supreme Court on Wednesday. Solicitor General Mehta made the submission during hearing of a plea by actor Rhea Chakraborty. Rhea had sought transfer of the case registered in Patna to Mumbai. The top court asked the parties involved to file their response in three days. SC has also ordered Maharashtra government to apprise court of the stage of probe by Mumbai Police. The case will now be heard next week. Sushant's father KK Singh had filed a police complaint against Rhea in Patna. Singh accused her of abetting his son's alleged suicide in June and alleged that Rhea illegally transferred Rs 15 crore from his son's bank account. Rhea challenged Bihar police's jurisdiction, saying the alleged crime took place in Mumbai. On Tuesday, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had recommended that the CBI take over the case. Kumar said the decision was taken after Sushant's father met state police chief. Sushant's father had also met Kumar seeking CBI investigation in the case. Singh alleged Mumbai police of inaction even after 40 days of actor's death.</p>

<p>The father of Sushant Singh Rajput released a video message over a month after the actor's death. KK Singh claimed that he had alerted Mumbai police about a threat to Sushant's life in February 2020. He says that after the actor died on June 14, he again approached police, seeking action against those whom he had named in February. However, Mumbai cops didn't take any action for 40 days, claims Singh. Then, he filed a complaint with Patna police, who immediately began investigation after lodging an FIR. Sushant's father also thanked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for 'standing with the truth'. In his complaint, Singh had accused Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty of wrongfully confining the actor, putting mental pressure on him, and also trying to usurp his assets. ‘Sushant had bipolar disorder, took medicines’: Mumbai police on actor’s death case

<p>The Commissioner of Police, Mumbai held a press conference to provide an update on the progress in investigation regarding actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death. Param Bir Singh revealed that during the probe, police found that the late actor suffered from bipolar disorder and was taking medications. He was also consulting a psychiatrist for treatment. Mumbai police have so far recorded statements of over 55 people.</p><p>Mumbai police chief also spoke on the possible conclusions of the investigation. If the investigators don't find any criminality in Sushant's death, then they will approach a magistrate to file a closure report. However, if criminality is found, then charges under the Indian Penal Code would be filed, and the probe would continue. PB Singh also revealed the various angles which the probe team is following up on, including professional rivalry, financial transactions, and health.</p><p>Meanwhile, controversy has broken out over a parallel investigation being conducted by Bihar police following a complaint against Sushant's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty by the late actor's father. Sushant death: Cops look for flatmate as Bihar dy CM blames ‘Bollywood mafia’

<p>The chief of Bihar police commented on the progress in the investigation into actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death. DGP Gupteshwar Pandey said that the probe team visiting Mumbai was yet to receive important documents like forensic and autopsy reports from Maharashtra police. He added that he's sure that Mumbai cops will cooperate in the probe and the case will move further when such information and documents are received. A day earlier, Bihar deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi had alleged that Maharashtra government was under pressure from a Congress-backed 'Bollywood mafia' to let those involved in the Sushant case go scot-free. The Bihar police is also looking for Siddharth Pithani, Sushant's flatmate, who had earlier written to the Mumbai police that the late actor's family was pressurising him to give a statement against Rhea Chakraborty. Sushant Singh was found dead at his Mumbai house on June 14. His father has accused his girlfriend Rhea of wrongfully confining him and also taking crores of Rupees from him.</p>

‘Mumbai Police wasn’t registering FIR’: Lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput’s father

<p>Sushant Singh Rajput's father filed an FIR against actor Rhea Chakraborty for abetment of suicide. Lawyer of Sushant's father explained why the FIR was lodged after over a month. Lawyer Vikas Singh added that the actor's family hasn't demanded a CBI probe yet. “FIR registered after over a month because the family was in shock. Mumbai Police was not registering FIR. They were forcing the family to give names of big production houses. The case was heading towards a different direction. Mumbai Police was not in the right direction. ‘Rhea threatened Sushant; took cash, cards’: 10 claims by late actor’s father

Sushant death: Cops call Karan Johar’s manager, Kangana Ranaut, Mahesh Bhatt

<p>Mumbai police's investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput is continuing. Maharashtra's Home minister briefed the media about the latest developments in the case. Anil Deshmukh revealed that film-maker Mahesh Bhatt will soon be recording his statement with the police. Also summoned by the investigators are actor Kangana Ranaut and the manager of film-maker Karan Johar. Deshmukh said that if required, Johar himself may be asked to join the investigation. Police have sent a summons to Kangana under CrPC Section 175, according to the minister. She is currently in Manali amid the Covid-19 pandemic. A day earlier, her lawyer had told Hindustan Times that the actor is willing to record her statement via a video link or if a police person visits her residence.
