The neighbourhood is located next-door to Douma, the location of an alleged chemical attack and heavy fighting between the Syrian government and rebels until just a few months ago. Since then, residents have begun to return and rebuild with some saying that the opportunity to watch the game provided a welcome distraction from the war and destruction that the area has seen. <p>After watching their soccer team lose 4-2 to France in the World Cup final in Moscow on Sunday, some Croatians wept with sadness while others felt pride that their tiny nation had gone so far in the tournament. When the final whistle blew fans who had gathered in Ban Jelacic square in the capital Zagreb to watch the match on a big screen hugged each other in commiseration. One young woman used a red-and-white Croatian flag to wipe tears from her eyes as a female friend, also crying, put her arm around her. Croatia fans gutted after 2018 World Cup final loss vs France

<p>France overwhelmed Croatia 4-2 in the World Cup final at Moscow's Luzhniki stadium on Sunday to lift the trophy for the second time in 20 years. Mandzukic pounced on a mistake by France keeper Hugo Lloris to cut the deficit in the 69th minute, making it the highest-scoring final over 90 minutes in 60 years, but Croatia could not find the net again in their first World Cup final.
