“Saw the ball and reacted,” says Rishabh Pant on second-ball six in Test debut

<p>India wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has reacted to queries on why he hit a second-ball six on his Test debut, against England, saying he just saw the ball and reacted to it.</p><p>“”I was not thinking anything. I just saw the ball and reacted to it. I was not thinking that I was going to hit it for six or anything like that. I was just playing normal cricket,” Pant said on Friday, days after India beat England in the third test of the ongoing test match series.</p><p>He added - “I was nervous. Everyone is nervous when they play their first match, but when I saw the ball I didn't think too much, I just saw the ball and reacted to it and that's what happened.”</p>

Gold medallist Bajrang Punia given a hero’s welcome at Delhi airport

<p>Bajrang Punia has returned home to a hero's welcome after winning the country's first gold at the Asian Games. The wrestler won 11-8 against Japanese rival Takatani Daichi. The 24-year old from Haryana's Jhajjar got the better of Takatani of Japan in a closely fought final bout. Punia sped away to a 6-0 lead before the Japanese wrestler fought back to tie the bout at 6-6. But Punia's resilience eventually paid off as he put in a great defensive show towards the end of the bout to hold on to a great victory.</p>

It was Kohli's 23rd Test century and he also passed Mohammed Azharuddin's record for most runs in a series in England by an Indian captain. He was joined by Chetashwar Pujara who made 72 in a third-wicket stand with his skipper of 113.</p>

<p>Wrestler Bajrang Punia registered history on Sunday after defeating Japan's Takatani at wrestling 65 kg category to clinch India's first gold in the 2018 Asian games campaign in Jakarta.</p><p>Bajrang won the gold medal defeating Daichi Takatani of Japan 11-8 in the final to give India its first gold of the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta.</p><p>“I dedicate my Asian Games gold medal to late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” Bajrang tweeted after his win.</p><p>Later on Monday, Narendra Modi acknowledged the star wrestlers' dedication, he wrote on Twitter, “Yesterday, one of our athletes, Bajrang Punia won the gold(our first in 2018 Asian Games) He dedicated the medal to Atal Ji. I do not think Bajrang would have had the opportunity to closely interact with Atal Jo but such is Atal Ji's respect that every Indian is inspired by him.”</p>

A 28-year gap for a wrestling gold (before Yogeshwar broke the jinx) is long. He had also advised to remain focus to the event,” he said.</p>

Asian Games 2018: Deepak Kumar clinches Silver medal in 10m air rifle

<p>Deepak Kumar held his nerve to finish second in the 10m air rifle event to give India its first silver medal of the 2018 Asian Games. This was India's third podium finish of the ongoing Games in Indonesia. India had a chance of a double medal in the event but Ravi Kumar finished an agonising fourth to narrowly miss out on a medal. India-England 3rd Test: ‘I don’t play for the media’, says Pandya after 5-wicket haul

<p>India gained a stranglehold on the third Test on Sunday by taking 10 England wickets in one session before reaching 124-2 by the close of Day 2. The tourists hold a formidable lead of 292 runs with eight second innings wickets in hand.</p><p>After losing four wickets for six runs to be dismissed for 329 just one hour into the second day at Trent Bridge, India then bowled out England for 161. <p>Bajrang Punia won the gold medal in the 65 kg category of freestyle wrestling event after beating Japan's Daichi Takatani in the final. Punia outclassed Uzbekistan's Sirojiddin Khasanov 13-3, winning by technical superiority, in the first round. He followed that up with another gallant show in the quarter-final as he subdued Tajikistan's Abdulqosim Fayziev 12-2 to storm into the last four. He was in his elements again in the semi-final bout as he overpowered Mongolia's Batmagnai Batchuluun 10-0 to win his third straight bout via technical superiority.</p>

<p>India's Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar won a bronze medal in the 10 metre air rifle mixed team event. The Indian pair aggregated 429.9 points in 42 shots to settle for the third position. The gold medal went to the pair from Chinese Taipei while China took home the silver medal in the event.</p><p>Apurvi Singh Chandela is an Indian shooter who competes in the 10 metre air rifle event. Indonesian high school puts eSports on curriculum

<p>Online gaming is usually blamed for distracting children from their schoolwork - not something you expect to see students playing in class. But this high school in Jakarta wants to change that. This high school is encouraging its students to pursue a career in competitive gaming by putting eSports on the curriculum. School officials say eSports are good for students' communication, problem solving and teamwork skills. PSKD-1 high school has set up its own eSports lab where students can learn how to play online games. They can get up to 20 hours of competitive video gaming per week with a special tutor. In the current academic year, 20 students have enrolled at the lab, making eSports the second most popular training program at the school after basketball.</p>

‘The only option is to win this game’, says Virat Kohli on India-England 3rd Test

<p>India's hopes of a series win against England are teetering ahead of the third Test at Trent Bridge. Ajit Wadekar: Captain par excellence passes away

A left-handed top order batsman, Wadekar scored 2113 runs in 37 Test matches for India.
